Kennametal expanded its product line of carbide drill bits, launching high-performance HPX drill bits for high-volume machining of steel materials. HPX drill bits are designed to drill holes up to 8 x D in ISO-P steel materials quickly and efficiently. Compared with similar products, even in non-lubricated or minimally lubricated (MQL) applications, it It can also double the tool life for customers, and the output can be tripled.

Why is HPX drill bit the best choice for steel processing applications? The key is design. Steel parts are widely used in various automotive, commercial and industrial applications. Because of the huge application volume, the life and processing ability of cutting tools are very important. However, during the drilling process, the steel will generate a strong mechanical load, and the resulting cutting force will cause rapid wear of the tool and breakage of the fragile drill corner. Kennametal added a tiny chamfer to the drill corner of the HPX drill bit and used a straight cutting edge to avoid this failure form. At the same time, the design of a round blade is adopted along the direction of the chip flute, which helps to reduce friction and improve the stability of the drill.

Lower cutting force, higher reliability

The special chip splitting design on the HPX drill bit improves chip formation and allows smaller chips to curl. The special material and geometric structure of the HPX drill bit can significantly reduce the cutting force, which is very useful for weak spindle capacity, unstable cutting conditions or poor workpiece clamping.

The continuous cross-section makes the HPX drill bit less likely to break, and the ultra-high polished chip flute ensures excellent chip removal performance.
